ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN MARKETING: AI-HUMAN TEAMING
The Questrom School of Business at Boston University anticipates an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Marketing with an emphasis on AI-human teaming. Pending Provost budgetary approval, the anticipated start date for this faculty position is July 1, 2027.
The Marketing Department at the Questrom School of Business includes faculty working across behavioral science, analytics, and marketing strategy. Hiring is aligned with the strategic priorities of the School and is intended to fuel cross-departmental and cross-university research initiatives. We seek a scholar whose research examines how people interact with AI and how organizations can effectively integrate human and machine intelligence. The position is intended to advance research on consumer responses to AI, algorithmic decision-making, AI-mediated markets, and the design of human-AI systems.
Prospective candidates must have demonstrated the ability to produce original and innovative scholarly work of the highest possible quality with impact in the top academic journals. Faculty will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing, analytics, and AI in Business, including in the Online MS in AI in Business, and to contribute to cross-disciplinary curriculum development. The successful candidate will develop courses on AI-human teaming at the individual, organizational, and societal levels, addressing topics such as responses to AI, the integration of human and machine judgment, AI-driven customer experiences, governance, and ethics. The successful candidate will also contribute to our doctoral programs. Ties to industry and access to datasets will be a plus.
The Questrom School of Business offers generous research and teaching support and opportunities for collaboration across Boston University, including with the Hariri Institute, the AI Development Accelerator, and the Questrom Digital Business Institute. The salary range for tenure-track Assistant Professors in the Marketing Department at the Questrom School of Business is $215,000 - $235,000.
Required Credentials
We seek candidates who will have completed a PhD in Marketing or a related field by the appointment start date and whose research focuses on AI-human teaming. We welcome behavioral, quantitative, or mixed-method research on topics such as consumer responses to AI, human-machine decision-making, AI-mediated customer experiences and markets, or the design and governance of human-AI systems. Candidates should be able to engage colleagues and students across disciplinary perspectives and backgrounds.
