Background

Clint Purtell is a PhD student at Oklahoma State University with a research focus in both entrepreneurship and supply chain innovation. Clint is ABD, scheduled to defend and graduate in Spring, 2020. His current research streams include negotiations (including the "pitch") and corporate entrepreneurship. As an accomplished corporate executive, he has experience in strategy and strategic sourcing/procurement and supply chain management from Fortune 500 and Euro 50 firms. His experience includes corporate negotiations, corporate development and acquisitions, and strategy development. Clint has traveled to transacted with companies in 40 countries across the globe. As an entrepreneur, Clint successfully started two consulting firms, as well as successfully launched and sold a franchise consulting company. His "dual edge" experience gives him a unique perspective of the challenges of entrepreneurship inside, outside, and between firms. Clint teaches undergraduate and graduate level supply chain, entrepreneurship and management courses at R1 institutions including Texas Christian University, Oklahoma State University, and the University of North Texas, both online and in the classroom. Clint is a Native American (member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma) and is recognized as a Graduate Fellow from the American Indian Graduate Center, Graduate Scholar from the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development and HANA Scholar from the General Board of Higher Education of the United Methodist Church. He is a member of the 2020 Babson Doctoral Consortium (BERC 2020), USASBE, and the Academy of Management. Clint is active in his community. He has served as a board adviser to two nonprofit organizations supporting military veteran transition to civilian entrepreneurship. He now serves on the board of the booster club in his local public school system and his church.

P&L responsibility for the OSG division, $45M, improved operating income by 2% via lean sigma and other supply chain operations efficiencies/improvements. Developed curriculum and taught multiple supply chain and procurement course at the company’s University (training center) in Paris, France. Directed the sourcing, negotiation and implementation of eProcurement Software programs (SAP/Ariba), including spend analytics, electronic supplier interface and mobile invoice approval, spend category hierarchy, and centralization of buyer activity across 32 locations.
