Verónica Martin Ruiz is a Ph.D. candidate in Marketing in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University. She conducts consumer behavior research in cross-cultural and multicultural markets. Her inter-disciplinary research interests to date are twofold. Substantively, Verónica focuses on how cultural norms affect consumer and employee responses and behaviors. Her dissertation focuses on triggered responses and potential interventions that can be used to redirect behavior in the medical context. She is also working on related projects in other consumer and work contexts. Verónica is also involved in the TCR community where, with other TCR scholars, she is exploring how diversity and inclusion initiatives in organizations affect individual wellbeing across contexts. Further, Verónica is exploring methodological advances in the cross-cultural research domain. She has a manuscript under second review with the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing and several research projects at different stages of development. Her research has been recognized by the AMA Foundation with the 2019 Valuing Diversity Ph.D. Award and the 2020 Rama and Shridar Ramaswami Marketing Research Excellence Award, along with several doctoral Fellowships. To date, Verónica has taught Consumer Behavior and Principles of Marketing courses. Her goals are to train successful marketing professionals who are curious and strong critical thinkers, and inspire students to pursue their best in all they do. Verónica spent more than 10 years in professional roles in the financial and automotive industries. She also holds an MBA from Iowa State University, a Masters on Translation and Localization Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and a B.A. in Translation and Interpretation from the Universidad de Granada (Spain). She has served as the Chair for AMA’s Doctoral Student SIG and as reviewer for AMA, ACR, and MPPC conferences. She is also a member of The Ph.D. Project.
