I developed a new elective course, Sustainability: Accounting and Reporting and Impact Investing, open to all undergraduate students at Notre Dame. My research focuses on corporate ESG disclosures and assurance, and judgment and decision-making. I received a B.B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico, an MBA from Penn State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. My dissertation on accounting knowledge and opportunity costs was honored with the AAA/ABO Outstanding Dissertation Award. My work has been published in The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting Horizons, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, and Accounting, Organizations and Society, among others. I serve on the editorial board of Accountability in a Sustainable World, and have served on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, and Journal of International Accounting Research. I have also served in the AAA/Grant Thornton Doctoral Dissertation Award Committee, the AAA/Publications Committee, the New Faculty Consortium Planning Committee, and as a faculty liaison with KPMG. At Notre Dame, I served on the Ryan Ethics Chair Search Committee and the Building Bridges Mentoring Program. I have served on ND's Sustainability Strategy Oversight Committee and the Lizzadro Chair Search Committee. I was named to the 2021 All-Faculty Team at Notre Dame and was the recipient of the 2022 Mendoza Mission Research Award. I am the Chair of the 2022-2023 AAA-AACSB-RRBM Award for Research Impacting Societal Challenges Committee.
